In reference to Surah Al–Baqrah verse 30, how did the angels predict that the proposed khalifah i.e. the human beings will shed blood on the earth; they are not possessed with the knowledge of the unseen ilm al-ghaib?
Answer
The word khalifah which the God used for the new creation means “someone who has been given the freedom to exercise authority”. Since the angels were well versed with what the word meant, they reckoned that this freedom given to human beings may amount to misuse of power and hence bloodshed.
