I am very interested in watching your television programs. I like your thoughts and explanation. I believe that the way which you apply the Islamic teachings is very clean.
Sir I am 19 years old and I am sick of masturbation and my question pertains to this particular issue. I have heard that it is not prohibited in Islam but I want to learn your view on the issue. Is Masturbation really prohibited in Islam?

The Qur’an (6:151) says: “…and do not come near obscenity, both hidden and apparent.”
In my opinion, masturbation definitely goes under the category of coming near to obscenity. Also note that one cannot masturbate while thinking about a mathematical equation. In my opinion things that facilitate and provide a situation in which one masturbates are also going under the category of coming near to obscenity.
