Medical Equipment

Question

I am doing research and would be grateful if you could help me. Could you please advise if under Sharia Laws, medical equipment which are used on the body, such as needles, drips etc. need to be authorized for use by the Sharia Council, or other authoring body? If so could you direct me to finding out how such items are deemed fit for use, and whether there is a list of products covered by such authorization.

Answer

The Sharia’h does not detail each and every matter of human life. It leaves such matters to the human intellect, reason and custom. It only objects to things which are morally and religiously wrong. This issue relates to a specific discipline which needs to be run in accordance with the available knowledge. There is no ethical issue here. Therefore, the religious scholars have no say in it.
