The Second Coming Of Jesus Christ

Question

Is Jesus alive or dead? If he is dead, then who are we waiting for? If he is alive, then when will he return from the heaven?

Answer

The second arrival of Jesus has nothing to do with his life or death. The Almighty who created him the first time can give him another life. The Lord who created him fatherless has enough power to recreate him and send him to earth. Therefore, we should think about his Second Advent leaving the question of his life or death. Anyway, he has secured the life of a martyr.

Firstly, it is clear that the Holy Qur’ān carries not even a slightest indication of his second coming. Contrarily, there are two occasions where his second arrival must have been mentioned but surprisingly, we don’t find any hint of the issue.

Surah al-Ma’idah (5) articulates a dialogue between Allah Almghty and Jesus on the Day of Judgment. In this dialogue, Jesus is interrogated if he had advised his disciples to make him and his mother partners to Allah Almighty. Jesus replies. “Glory to You! Never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, you would indeed have known it. You know what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For You know in full all that is hidden. “Never said I to them aught except what Thou didst command me to say, to wit, ‘worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord’; and I was a witness over them whilst I dwelt amongst them; when Thou did take me up You were the Watcher over them, and you are a witness to all things.” (Q 5:116-7)

This dialogue provided him with an opportunity to mention his second coming and his strict oppostion of this evil faith. Further, it is revealed from the above passage that Jesus is unaware of the discovery of the new faith. Had he come to the earth the second time, he would not have said words that showed his unawareness of the incident.

The second occasion is when Allah told Jesus that he is to depart and his desciples are going to win dominance over the Jews till the Day of Judgment. Consider the verse 55 of Surah Al-Imran (3). Since the prediction was made till the Judgment Day, it seems unreasonable to ignore telling him that he would be returned to earth once again and would observe the dominance and complete his mission of preaching.

Apparantly, it seems that the faith in second coming of Jesus is not supported by the Holy Quran.
