Question
And what about the seven heavens stated in the Qur’an?
Answer
It does not contradict science at all. Rather, the Qur’an states this whole universe is a single heaven, thus stating a fact. We are still understanding this single heaven. Thus there are still further 6 heavens or universes in addition to this.
A lot of people focus on the statements of the Qur’an related to science. They do not realise that it is not a book of science. The scientific facts have been stated as supporting arguments. The Qur’an actually comments on Allah’s attributes and their material evidence and uses scientific facts as a proof. And these statements are flawless.
Science has proved what the Qur’an has stated. For example the phrase “mountains of clouds” has been used in the Qur’an. Clouds, from earth appear flat. Only after the advent of air travel, we appreciated the mountainous morphology of the clouds. Again, stating these scientific facts is not the main aim of the Qur’an.
