Was any prophet sent to India?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Answer<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>wa alaikumussalaam&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you for writing to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given that the primary audience of the Qur&#8217;an belonged to the Arabian Peninsula, it addresses personalities, nations, and prophets familiar to them. There is a common misconception that all the prophets emerged from the region commonly referred to as the Middle East. This is inaccurate. The Qur&#8217;an informs us that God raised <em>Anbiyaa<\/em> (sing. <em>Nabi<\/em>) and <em>Rusul<\/em> (sing. <em>Rasool<\/em>) in every nation across the world at various points in history. Many of these prophets are from ancient times and remain unknown to people today. There are those among them whose accounts We have narrated to you and those also whose accounts We have not.<\/p>\n<cite>40:78<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The way the history of the prophets is presented in the Qur&#8217;an, we see that before Abraham (pbuh), God raised the prophets and the messengers among all the nations at different times. However, after Abraham (pbuh), prophethood was restricted to his progeny and all subsequent prophets were raised among his descendants. In other words, God selected the entire progeny of Abraham (pbuh) to carry out a special task. The Qur&#8217;an says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u0625\u0650\u0646\u064e\u0651 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u0647\u064e \u0627\u0635\u0652\u0637\u064e\u0641\u064e\u0649 \u0622\u062f\u064e\u0645\u064e \u0648\u064e\u0646\u064f\u0648\u062d\u064b\u0627 \u0648\u064e\u0622\u0644\u064e \u0625\u0650\u0628\u0652\u0631\u064e\u0627\u0647\u0650\u064a\u0645\u064e \u0648\u064e\u0622\u0644\u064e \u0639\u0650\u0645\u0652\u0631\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064e \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0639\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064e\u0645\u0650\u064a\u0646\u064e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>God chose Adam and Noah, Abraham\u2019s progeny and the progeny of \u2018Imran above the people of the world.<\/p>\n<cite>3:33<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the person of Abraham (pbuh), the most well-known prophet is Noah (pbuh).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In my view, shared by some other scholars, the Indians are the followers of Prophet Noah (pbuh). However, in Indian tradition, he is referred to as <em>Manu<\/em>, or more specifically &#8216;<em>Manu Vaivasvata.<\/em>&#8216; The narrative of Prophet Noah (pbuh) in the Bible and the Qur&#8217;an bears a striking resemblance to the story of Manu and the Deluge as recounted in various Indian religious texts such as the Shatapatha Brahmana, the Mahabharata, and the Puranas, albeit with some variations. Additionally, Manu is mentioned in numerous Vedic hymns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is conceivable that the Indian tradition gradually lost the concept of prophethood with the rise of various philosophical and mystical thoughts. Nevertheless, they continue to identify with the figure of Manu.
