The Qur’an does not make any reference to Abel (Arabic H\u0101b\u012bl<\/em>) “surrendering” to his brother Cain (Arabic Q\u0101b\u012bl<\/em>) or refraining from defending himself. Rather, the Qur’an indicates that Abel was not willing to initiate an attack against his brother. It is possible, and the text supports this possibility, that Habil attempted to defend himself when Qabil attacked him with the intention of murder but was ultimately unsuccessful in doing so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In his commentary on Qur’an 5:29, Javed Ahmad Ghamidi explains that the verse contains the words “\u0627\u064e\u0646\u0652 \u062a\u064e\u0628\u064f\u0648\u0652\u0653\u0627\u064e \u0628\u0650\u0627\u0650\u062b\u0652\u0645\u0650\u064a\u0652 \u0648\u064e\u0627\u0650\u062b\u0652\u0645\u0650\u0643\u064e,” which involve the suppression of a governing noun (mu\u1e0d\u0101f<\/em>) before both nouns.
