In  these cases we can leave the fast and complete the count afterwards.  However, in the beginning the Qur\u2019an allowed the people to leave fast  and atone for missing a fast through specified method. It was also  possible for the people who are travelling or are sick to give money or  food against the left over fasts. Later on this permission was taken  back and the believers were commanded to complete the count later on.  The option to make up for the left over fast in the case of journey and  sickness through charity is no more available.
