The Holy Prophet (sws) was obliged to interpret and explain the Holy Qur\u2019\u0101n. If this is correct then where do we find the hadiths<\/em> elaborating the meanings of the following Qur\u2019anic terms: nut\u0323q<\/em>, hikmah<\/em> and dhikr <\/em>occurring in the in surah al-Najm, al-Naml, al-Ahz\u0101b, al-Baqarah, ‘\u0101l-i ‘Imr\u0101n, and al-Jumu\u2018ah<\/em>?<\/p>\n The h\u0323ad\u012bth<\/em> narratives rarely contain the interpretation and explanation of parts of the Qur\u0101nic text. No such h\u0323ad\u012bth<\/em> has been ascribed to the Holy Prophet (sws) which explains the words you have mentioned above. The word ‘hikmah’<\/em> connotes wisdom when used in ah\u0101d\u012bth.<\/em> This is its known literal meaning. Similarly, no prophetic saying has been reported elaborating ‘nutq’<\/em> and ‘dhikr’<\/em>. These words have also been used in their literal meanings in the h\u0323ad\u012bth<\/em> literature. They do not give any conclusive explanation of the above mentioned words. The question is, why do you want to know the explanation of these words from the ah\u0101d\u012bth<\/em>? These are common words of Arabic language and can be elaborated easily with the help of the context in which they occur.
