The Holy Qur’an says: “Allah and His angels send blessings on the Holy Prophet (sws)” (Q 33:56) My question is that what does it mean that Allah sends blessings on His creatures, like for example the Holy Prophet (sws), given the fact that He is the Creator and the Absolute? <\/p>\n

In Arabic in particular and in other languages in general the relationship of the verb to the subject determines and modifies its meanings. The best example of this alteration in Urdu is muhabbat<\/em> (affection). Mother’s affection for her son is totally different from that between a husband and his wife. Yet the same word is used to connote both the relations. When the word ‘sall\u0101’<\/em> is ascribed to mankind, it carries the meaning of praying for divine blessings. But when it is ascribed to Allah Almighty, it gives the meanings of bestowing blessings on the Holy Prophet (sws). No doubt that Allah is the Creator and the absolute but He is also the master and Lord of all the creatures. The whole system of the world depends on His blessings. Both these aspects have been combined in Surah al-Ikhl\u0101s (112). It reads: “Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Independent.” (Q 112:1-2) The implication is that all the creatures depend on Him and He is the one who fulfills their needs. <\/p>\n
