Ignoring moral boundaries in conversations has become our social norm. These boundaries cover a complete surah<\/em> of the Qur\u2019an, al-Surah al-Hujuraat. We are told not to ridicule, suspect or backbite our Muslim brethren. According to the Prophet (sws), heaven is prohibited to the slanderers. We don\u2019t realise the consequences of our gross misconduct. Some people develop it as a habit, oblivious to the sin. Our minor misdemeanours sometimes have grave consequences. This gentleman has correctly pointed out the issue. The person should be advised to be cautious while commenting on his countrymen, saying only what is right and avoiding abusive remarks. Even our journalism ignores such values. People falsely accuse, spread rumours and exaggerate without any remorse, considering it a religious duty.
