My husband wants me to do parda<\/em> and he says that if I am not willing he even can beat me. Is this right in Islam? Please advise.<\/p>\n

Answer<\/h3>\n

Forcing one\u2019s wife to observe the \u201cpardah<\/em>\u201d that one believes is the directive of God is not justifiable. I do not understand what is the concept of pradah<\/em> in the mind of your husband. However, I think it necessary to share with you our understanding of the divine directives in this regard. Regardless of the correctness or otherwise of one\u2019s views on the issue one is not rightful in forcing and beating wives into observing one\u2019s views in this regard. At best one can do exhortation with kindness and great wisdom. <\/div>\n
