Why do we use the word &#8220;<em>\u1fb9<\/em><em>m\u012bn<\/em>&#8221; in the supplications and in the <em>s\u0323al\u0101h<\/em>  when it is not used in Qur\u2019\u0101n when it was introduced by the Hebrews and  Christians? I have come to know that an Egyptian King was named  Oman. And how it came in the <em>Lohe<\/em> <em>Qur\u0101ni<\/em>?<\/div>\n<div>Tajdar Aziz<\/div>\n<h3>Answer<\/h3>\n<p>There  is no problem with using a word in prayers that is not in the Qur\u2019\u0101n,  as long as the word is relevant and appropriate. All\u0101hu <em>Akbar<\/em> (God is great) is also not in the Qur\u2019\u0101n but is mentioned several times in prayers. <\/p>\n<div><em>Am\u012bn<\/em>  being the name of a person also does not change anything. It is the  meaning of it (and not one who owns it as a name) that is intended when  people use it. <\/div>\n<div>Also,  it is not necessarily correct to hold that something originated from  Jews or Christians should not be used. Muslims, Christians and Jews are  all followers of the religion of Abraham (sws) and have lots in common. <\/div>\n<div><em>\u0100m\u012bn<\/em>  simply means &#8220;so be it&#8221;. It is a reasonable end to any supplication. We  cannot categorise it as the Sunnah of the Prophet (sws) but we also  cannot condemn its usage. It is a permissible word to say after any  supplication simply because it is relevant. Of course we also have <em>Ah<\/em><em>\u0323<\/em><em>\u0101dith<\/em>  narrated from the Prophet (sws) suggesting that the Prophet (sws)  encouraged people to say it after supplications. There are also a great  number of traditions which tell us that the Prophet (sws) commanded the  believers to say <em>\u1fb9m\u012bn<\/em> when the Im\u0101m completes reading <em>s\u016brah<\/em> <em>F\u0101tih\u0323ah<\/em>. He is reported to have said:<\/div>\n<div>Ab\u016b Hurayrah reported: The Messenger of Allah (sws) said: Say <em>\u1fb9<\/em><em>m\u012bn<\/em> when the Imam says <em>Am\u012bn<\/em>, for it anyone&#8217;s utterance of <em>\u1fb9<\/em><em>m\u012bn<\/em> synchronises with that of the angels, he will be forgiven his past sins.
