I have a few questions and shall appreciate your reply by e-mail.<\/div>\n
1. I need reference of any book\/document in which names of the ten blessed Companions are mentioned.<\/div>\n
2. What are the fundamental differences between the Sunn\u012bs and Sh\u012b\u2018\u012bs?<\/div>\n
3. Is Tabbarrah (cursing the Companions) an essential part of Sh\u012b\u2018\u012b beliefs?<\/div>\n
4. Was temporary marriage (mut\u2018a<\/em>) permitted by the Prophet (sws)? If it was then why are the sunn\u012bs against it?<\/div>\n
5. Is a sunn\u012b boy allowed to marry a Sh\u012b\u2018\u012b girl or vice versa? My son wants to marry a Sh\u012b\u2018\u012b girl. My family and I are not in favour of it. I need to convince him and seek your help.<\/div>\n

Thank you for writing to us. My answers to your questions follow.<\/p>\n
2. The Sh\u012b\u2018\u012bs believe that the divine guidance continues after the Prophet Muhammad (sws). Accordingly they believe in Im\u0101ms who according to them are infallible and appointed by God to guide people. The first Im\u0101m is Ali (ra), then Hassan (ra) then Hussain (ra) and then 9 other Im\u0101ms from the progeny of Hussain (ra). The last Im\u0101m (Muhammad Ibn Hassan – Mahd\u012b), according to them, went to occultation in 329 AH and is still alive and will appear near the end of the world to bring justice to the world. Accordingly, just as the rest of Muslims have the books of Ah\u0323\u0101d\u012bth narrated from the Prophet (sws), Sh\u012b\u2018\u012b has books of Ah\u0323\u0101d\u012bth narrated from their Im\u0101ms. Also since Sh\u012b\u2018\u012b believe that their Im\u0101ms were appointed by God, they do not consider any other rule at the time of Im\u0101ms to be legitimate, unless it is ruled by the Im\u0101m himself or the ruler can be seen as the representative of the Im\u0101m.<\/div>\n
3. Yes, Tabarr\u0101<\/em> is one of the ten essential branches of belief (Furog-i Deen<\/em>) that the Sh\u012b\u2018\u012bs hold. These are Prayer, Zakah<\/em>, the Fast, Hajj<\/em>, Khums<\/em>, Jihad<\/em>, Amr bi al-Ma\u2018r\u016bf<\/em> (advise to good), Nahy<\/em> \u2018an Al-Munkar<\/em> (advise against evil), Tawall\u0101<\/em> (friendship with friends of God), Tabarr\u0101<\/em> (dissociation from the enemies of God). <\/div>\n
4. Temporary marriage was practiced by Muslims for some time during the life of the Prophet (sws) and many believe this was a practice that was already in vogue among the Arabs even before Islam. According to Ah\u0323\u0101d\u012bth the Prophet (sws) later forbade people from it. According to the Qur\u2019\u0101n 70:29-31, the only ways by which a man can have relationship with a woman is either by proper (permanent contract) marriage or by owner slave relationship (which is not applicable at our time). According to the Sh\u012b\u2018\u012bs, however, the verse 5:24 refers to temporary marriage. Non-Sh\u012b\u2018\u012b scholars disagree. <\/div>\n
5. Purely from Islamic point of view, yes. They are both Muslims.<\/div>\n
